Disconnects

A couple weeks ago I mentioned I had a post brewing about our guy in DC and the disconnects between what he says and what he actually does.  It’s been rambling about in my grey matter and has finally bubbled enough to be dropped here.  I’m going to crawl onto my soapbox, exercise my First Amendment right, and question this yahoo just a wee bit.

During his Nov 12th speech at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska,  the anointed one said this:

“So as your Commander-in-Chief, here’s the commitment I make to you. We’ll make sure you can meet the missions we ask of you.”  (Anchorage Daily News, Transcript of Obama’s remarks, Nov 12, 2009)

General McChrystal has asked for help in Afghanistan.  He asked before this speech took place. That help, as of this writing, still has not been granted or denied.  If you are truly committed to meeting the mission, Barry, pull your finger out and make it happen.  After all, you can push through a “stimulus”  package that has damn near bankrupted this country in a matter of days.

How long does it take to fulfill a campaign declaration of listening to the commanders on the ground and support them?   I’ll grant putting more Americans in harm’s way is a weighty decision and one which should not be entered into easily. But the guys on the ground know what they need to get the job done and get it done right.  Either support them or call a halt to the madness and bring them back.

He also said this:

And if it is necessary, the United States of America will have your back. We will give you the strategy and the clear mission you deserve. We will give you the equipment and support that you need to get the job done. And that includes public support back home. (ibid.)

Where the hell is it?   Barry, I truly feel you are a liar of the highest order.  You don’t deserve to be the Commander -in-Chief anymore than I do.  You wanted this job, you spent an incredible amount of money to get it, and now you’re The Guy.  You get to make the tough calls. That’s what you wanted, wasn’t it?  Man up, Barry.  The people of this great nation are not going to let you slide.  At least this one won’t.
