More fun with rocks and ice.

This weekend the Fairbanks Curling Club hosted its annual Rookie Spiel.  Geared toward new curlers and families, the teams are made up of no more than two experienced members each.  It makes for some “interesting” games.  I was matched up with some newer curlers I had the pleasure of playing with and against this fall.    What a riot!

My teammates  and I did fairly well for a has-been and three newbies.  We held our own and if I could have made a shot or two we might have even won the whole thing.  That in its ownself is a double edged sword. The team that wins the tourney gets to run the thing next year.  I think this is the only tourney I’ve ever played in where the unspoken object of the weekend is to come in second.

All in all, it was a great weekend with some good curling,  a lot of great times, and a cold beverage or three thrown in for good measure.

We should do this more often!
