This is the weekend the sun turns around.  We get to experience the shortest couple days of the year this weekend.  Today’s sunrise is at 10:54 AM and it will set at 2:38.  Not quite four hours of sun above the horizon.  It’s Sunday and I’m not working so I slept in as long as Doggus would let me.   I’ve been up for a few hours, managed to get a fire going in the woodstove (it’s 30 below outside), and some coffee going.  Still waiting on the sun to rise.

Things will pretty much stay this way for the next week or so.  Then we start gaining light at a fair clip.  We’ll pick up about 7 minutes a day or just under an hour of daylight a week.  By mid May, it won’t be dark anymore at all.

And that’s just one of the reasons I live here.
